COMMITTEES:
Roads
and Drainage - No
updates reported.
Community
Watch - Christine
Bauerdorf said that Charlie Bauerdorf attended the last Community Watch
meeting. The person allegedly
responsible for several Calvert Beach neighborhood break-ins in December has
been arrested. There is a new Commander
of the Community Watch program. He
expressed a goal of establishing teams of Community Watch participants in every
neighborhood. More details will be
forthcoming in future Community Watch meetings.
Boat
Ramp Keys - No updates reported.
Beach
Erosion – Doug Crow
suggested the use of Beach Prisms which run parallel to the beach and serve as
a breakwater. He plans to pay for this
in the bay by his property. Terrye will
speak with him about this plan.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Security
Reports - Charlie
Anderson is working with the Long Beach community representative to line up
security personnel for the upcoming season, which begins in April.
Meeting
Day/Signage - It
was agreed to continue holding CBCA meetings on the third Saturdayof each
month. It was also agreed not to change
the wording on the Community Bulletin Board announcing each months meeting, i.e
leave it as "board" meeting as opposed to "community"
meeting.
Sympathy
Card/Donation - A
donation of $50.00 has been sent to the South Frankfort Church in memory of
Steve Krembs.
Towing
Company Sign/Sheriff -
Terrye Zaremba will check with the towing company about putting up a sign at
the boat ramp regarding towing procedures.
NEW
BUSINESS;
Treasure
Hunt - Terrye will
contact the Calvert Marine Museum about having someone give a talk about
fossils at the community sponsored treasure hunt in June. Jim Powell and
Charlie Anderson have horseshoe sets they can provide for adults to use.
Biking
Path - Tim Grover,
of the St. Leonard Vision Group, sent a letter regarding his contacts with the
County about putting in more sidewalks.
The County responded that funding is not available at this time. Doug Crow pointed out that the County would
be more favorable to funding a hiking/biking path that follows the contour of
Calvert Beach Road. This would require
much less money.
Short
Sales/Foreclosure -
Terrye noted an increase in short sales and foreclosures in the area. This will obviously impact the CBCA budget (fewer
dues paying residents).
Other
Issues - There was
a discussion about maintenance of the steps at Ave. D. Doug Crow and Jim Powell volunteered to power
wash and apply stain or preservative.. In
addition, Doug Crow will contact Smeco about installation of a light at the
Ave. D stair.
Another
issue is that the gate at the boat ramp seems to be rusting and should be painted.
NEXT
MEETING: February 21, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the LBCA
Community Center.
